TourneyCentral.com announced today it has established a Facebook profile for the soccer tournament community. The limited view Facebook profile is available to anyone with a Facebook profile and the full profile is available once a friends request has been granted. Some of the content includes a comprehensive calendar of tournament events, photos galleries and shared videos.
“We know the soccer tournament-going community is large and getting larger,” says Gerard McLean, president and CEO of Rivershark, Inc., TourneyCentral’s parent company. “Using facebook to link this community together just simply makes sense as the next step to building a solid marketing platform for our events and sponsor brands.”
McLean adds that Facebook was the preferred platform for the TourneyCentral community site as it had stronger security and a better system than competing community site. “This is where people are,” McLean says. “This is the high-school crowd, the college crowd… our target market.”
According to its Web site, Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.
“A soccer tournament is like one big Facebook profile,” McLean adds, “whether people first meet on line and continue the relationship at the tournament or meet at the tournament and continue on Facebook, it is all part of connecting people and making our tournament brands stronger.”
